We can only speculate what he’d think today, but he did address the topic of riots generally in his own time.

He had nuanced views as you might expect from someone who thought deeply about inequality and how best to combat it.

Whatever you think of his politics, Ta-Nehisi Coates is a beautiful writer and maybe the most influential thinker on race issues in America today.

He wrote this about the Baltimore riots, but it certainly applies today.
