Fascinating!
An anti mask gathering to discuss the ineffectiveness of masks during a virus.

Obviously they didn’t have ban on people assembling in 1918. Big mistake.

Proves how the human thought process remains forever unchanged no matter how we evolve through time

They did! But just like today, people protested the ban quite aggressively.

The 1918 flu pandemic came in three waves, and the second and third waves quite noticeably came immediately after the government gave in to pressure to relax the rules.

I read it lasted 3 years.
Different from today’s virus that it effected young, heathy individuals as well as old.
World was a different place also, less people, more rural, not globally connected. Still killed millions.

I’m a firm believer in the ‘history repeats itself’ philosophy. Historically speaking, we should experience stronger, more deadly outbreaks in the future.

I bet then, like today, there were many people who regretted not taking a pandemic seriously when they had the chance

Yeah, they did. In fairness, trying to bring the First World War to a close was also a major undertaking that they didn't want to lose sight of, but the Spanish flu epidemic killed somewhere between half and as many lives as the war did (record keeping was not as good back then, either).

You don't see flu memorials, do you? We have memorials to the 116,516 brave soldiers who died in combat from 1914 - 1918, but you don't see anything to commemorate the 675,000 Americans who died of the flu pandemic right after. Maybe that's why we're repeating our mistake again now - nobody built us a warning from the past.

I read Obama had a Pandemic response that Mitch McConnell denied having but remembered they had all along.
How about that?
I suppose it boils down to leadership. I’m not going to preach to the choir, we know the score.

They all did. Bush 2, Clinton, each one built upon the last to expand our pandemic response capabilities. It shouldn't even be a partisan issue - it really was just Donald J F**knugget selling off all this stuff in the name of shrinking the size of government.

I know
In 2016 after election I read somewhere
“we had better pray Donald Trump is never faced with a National crisis “

Well. Here we are and yes, what does commander and chief do?deflect, divided, take no responsibility.
November has so much significance
Do we continue and dance to Nero’s fiddle or save ourselves?
Son of a bitch

Look, again: You believe Bob Parker because you like him, and all he has to say is "masks have never been peer-reviewed" and you'll hold him as an argument.

You are allowed to do your own homework and find that masks have been peer-reviewed out the wazoo, possibly more than anything else in medicine, and therefore Bob Parker is full of shit. You don't have to take ANYONE'S word for it - medical research is mostly available for free to the public, and you clearly have Internet access because you're on imgflip. Find out for yourself who's bullshitting you!

You are just one of the laziest people I have ever met. Your idea of research is nonsense - it's not about finding someone you like and taking them at their word; it's about that important question: how do they know? How can you find out?

If there's an argument between a person who says it's raining and a person who says it's sunny, don't ask yourself who you believe more - open a f**king window and settle it yourself.

You're an idiot. That's the first time I've ever seen his name that I know of.

However, the fact of his meme spoke for itself.

That pretty much wraps up the value everything else you said.

How did it go away? With roughly 40 million dead worldwide, that's how. Stupid question.

so once it killed 40 million it felt sated and retired?
0 ups, 5y
do you think antiviral medication other advancements in medicine would prevent 40 million deaths?
