It seems to me that it's most likely the virus escaped when Chinese virologists lost containment. At that point, China went into deep cover up mode. They locked down all travel from "Wunan" within China. Yet somehow, at the same time, they were scooping up PPE and letting people they had to know were infected, travel to other parts of the world; Italy, Spain, UK, US, etc.

Crossover means when one species of mammal ( bat) crosses over to another species ( human )a virus that had Previously effected only that specific mammal (bats)

Virus begins to mutates in the human host, creating a brand new contagion that successfully is transferred from person to person.

When that happens, there is no human immunity to that virus as virus continues to mutate from host to host
