What does logging out have to do with deleting an account you may no longer want? If someone gets tired of this site then they should be allowed to delete if they choose. Logging out does not solve the issue of being bored or fed up with imgflip.

Nixie already asked the right question. Plus sites active in the EU, even if they are based outside of it, are even obligated to honor the "right to be forgotten", which means that you must be able to delete your account and everything posted with it.
Just logging out is nice for a temporary leave, but deleting an account entirely is something completely different.
