Following the letter of the law, murder (or an an attempt to murder) is still murder even when culprit and victim are the same person, making suicide illegal. And thus if the country sets even an attempted murder to capital punishment, the law has operated the way it should, although the outcome was indeed pretty ironic. And don't look at me... I too think this is ridiculous.
