Yeah, that's because we aren't a democracy at all. We are a republic where we have enshrined rights that cannot be violated by voting 51% of the wolves to eat the sheep.

You're using a definition of democracy that makes no sense just so that you can say that. We've been a democracy with a full voting base for over fifty years now and a democracy with a partial voting base for 230 years.

Nope. Look up the difference between a democracy and a republic. It might enlighten you.

Republic just means there's no monarch. It is very, very common for this to be administered by a democratic component, like, for example, our country. If you think there's an intelligent conversation to be had by pretending that democracy and republic were mutually exclusive ideas, go find someone else to talk nonsense with - it's a garbage talking point and always has been.

No one said they were mutually exclusive. They are different systems. In one you can vote to kill 49% of the people. In the other representatives have to vote 2/3rd majority to do the same.

See? That's exactly what I'm saying: you're using definitions of democracy and republic that are absolutely trash.

First of all, I'm not convinced you understand what mutual exclusivity means because you contradicted yourself immediately.

Second, you then described a referendum and a representative legislature, neither of which have bearing on this discussion because they are not the unique defining features of either system.

I'm kind of surprised there's no data for Greenland. Doesn't Denmark give them some regional autonomy?

They don't have mayors? Vote for their dog catcher? Decide who's in charge of garbage collection?

They had the best gods. Gender switching eight-legged horses and that was just Loki.

It's always been around! Read the story about how Odin's horse was born.

'While most animals are born as either male or female, the line separating genders gets a little blurry when it comes to starfish. These slow-moving creatures do have distinct genders and can mate with other individuals, but they can also reproduce asexually and some species can even switch their sex.'
