You don't get it. They would just pass the increase on to the consumer. You don't really think the CEO's at the top are going to take a pay cut for minimum wage right?

so what. Damn, no more chocolate, big deal. give the farmers a minimum wage they have a good life to. Not just the CEO's.

secondly...this does not happen to Western farmhands, Like Dairy farmers. The workers get minimum $24/hr. So whats the difference between farming a billion dollar dairy farm industry in the west and a Billion dollar chocolate industry in Africa? The difference? in the Western countries we have a mandatory minimum wage.....So the Dairy Farmers MUST pay their farm hands a living wage.

In my country a 2Litre milk from local farmhands that get paid $24/hr...is $3 and its exported to other countries. Chocolate in Africa farmhands a few dollars a day. Chocolate block price in my country $3....and theres just as much Milk in supermarkets as there is Chocolate bars. Dairy farmhands get paid $24/hr in my country. Chocolate farmers a few dollars a day for the same priced product.....see the problem here? A minimum wage....

Just so you understand if the price of chocolate goes up by too much then people won't buy it. If people stop buying it, then the farmers don't get paid.
Same issue with McDonalds employees when they get $17 an hour, the dollar burger will be $5 and their regular stuff will be $10. No once will buy at that price.
Just look at Bernie sanders. He gave his employees a big raise and had to turn around and fire a bunch of them.

2lMilk costs $3. A block of chocalate costs $4. A Dairy farmer gets paid in the west $24/hr. It hasnt raised the price of milk. A chocolate farmer in Africa gets paid a few dollars a day. Why is that even legal in 2020? Im pretty sure they could KEEP the price of chocalate at $3-$4 in the supermarkets and still raise their wages to $10/hr and not break the bank. Its a $140 billion dollar industry. Take a billion off the profit to pa the farmers more...it wouldnt be hard.

Dairy farmers haven't had their pay changed, and they also receive government subsidies which explains the higher pay rate.

There we go....the governments in Africa need to get their sht together and create a min wage snd chocolste companies need to lose a Billion dollars out of their 140 BILLION to make it 139 billion and pay their workers. Its still 139 billion. I dont think they would even notice it

They notice every penny. As long as they are allowed to do it they will.
