Actually we do. It's called emergency rooms and charities. The emergency room can't turn you away by law. If you need care you can go there.

And who will pay? The main idea to link your healthcare with your job is just simple minded. Think of a society like a family. No one would suggest to give somebody just minimum care in case they get sick because he/she lost her job. Every one does so because they want care if they get sick.

In Germany you even get money if you go to the dentist twice a year. So the insurance pays the dentist and you. And this is even worth it because it prevents most of the severe cases.

The massive profits the hospitals generate by overcharging for simple procedures should pay for it easy.
No I think of society as what it is. Individuals trying to get ahead, some by dishonest means.
I'd rather give people a job and let charities deal with them if they can't handle working than to burden the tax payers.
