The biggest "celebrity" I've met was "Indiana Jones's brother" in 1st grade at an Assembly. I believed that for longer than I should have... no direct interaction.

But actually last year when my mom and I were visiting LA walking on Hollywood BLVD, there was a premiere of The Curse of La Llorona and there were a few celebrities there, but I had no idea who they were but people were loud and cheering, so I assume they were pretty big and I don't think they were part of the cast. The only one I found out for sure was the director of the movie, the rest I don't know. That's just the closest I've been to seeing celebrities, nowhere close to doing something dumb with them. But since you asked, have you? I'm interested.

I met a famous musician at an airport once. I was in awe but could only think to ask for autograph...

I mean, I've met the author of the book series World of Norm (IDK if anyone's heard of it)...But I did talk a lot...Normally I'm too much of a wuss to talk to people.

I met Taylor Hicks at an event last year. I was a huge fan of his when I was a teen, and I even got to see him in concert once.

Anyway, I was going to tell him about how much I loved his music and the fact that I tried to meet him after one concert. However, it all went out the window when he asked me for my name (for the autograph). I froze for about five seconds before blurting it out.

I’ve never been around a celebrity because I don’t care about what they do. Most of the time though, they say orange man bad.

It's the easiest topic, and it can be applied to any part of the political spectrum!

Yeah, celebrities, for the most part anyway, should not be considered people of importance. They are often not very intelligent, self-absorbed and live in a bubble.

Thanks, and yes, totally true. I've never understood how anyone with even half a brain can look up to a celebrity as a role model or hero. They are chumps.

I never look up to celebrities, mostly because I don’t know any.

Good. Keep it that way and you will contribute to the greatness of the society we live in. Celebrities are nothing but entertainment. Never, ever see them as anything but that. They are there for our entertainment and they are compensated handsomely.

Everyone just likes being treated like a regular person
0 ups, 5y
yes for sure. But some do expect to be treated as royalty.

If I see someone famous, I leave them alone because in nearly all cases, that's what they'd prefer be done.

Not my own story, but I worked with a guy whose brother lives in San Diego and ran into Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones) at a coffee shop.

He asked for an autograph and Dinklage very politely brushed him off saying he just wasn’t in the mood.

Must be hard for a guy like Dinklage going out in public: both super famous and very physically distinctive.

A reminder that celebrities are just people like you and me and we all need privacy sometimes.

Very interesting! Yeah, kinda like Wee Man. Also, Vern Troyer...he had a rough life and pretty much drank himself to death. Imagine being Mini Me and going out for coffee.

I unwittingly asked them to autograph a piece of paper that would normally not be autographed. They turned to their handlers and asked if they should be doing this. It was innocent confusion on all sides.

My friend once met a famous football player (well, famous in my country) and I was in the background. Closest I have and probably will get to a celebrity.

Great topic! If I ever met my celebrity crush(es) (see: the Minogue sisters) in real life, I’d probably die. I’d be lucky to stammer out a request for an autograph.

Other than in the crowd at rock concerts, the nearest I have ever been to folks you might consider “celebrities” is at chess tournaments. I’ve stood feet away from American and world chess legends you’ve probably never heard of: Nakamura, Caruana, So.

Never talked to them at all though, as you are obviously prohibited from “table talking” during tournaments. However, I have chatted with, played against, and received instruction from lesser grandmasters.

You jest, but lot of folks here would be more comfortable with an ImgFlip that looked more like the right panel

Which is a censored version of the “Fever” album cover for sale in Middle East markets

See more censored album here:

Yep. Tens of thousands of years after the first caveman drew titties on a wall using chalk, artistic depictions of the female body are still seen as threatening and controversial

Fascinating

The more things change, the more they stay the same

Never met a celebrity. Or maybe I have and had no idea. I once saw someone who looked lke soeone from a show, but I wasn't sure so I didnt say anything. If I did meet a celeb, id probably try to spark a conversation, or end up getting a selfie and something to convince my friends I really did
