It’s not really a fair comparison. Back in Lincoln’s day all the democrat press was trying to divide the country and protect sla...oh, wait, never mind.

The Confederacy wasn’t the equivalent of “Democrats” no matter how hard you guys try to make that comparison

When you get right down to it, the Confederacy was a racist, socially regressive group of overzealous states’ rights enthusiasts who hated federal power and coastal elites

I was stunned trump conducted himself during this one. And thats saying something. He really looked like he was losing his cool. I actually just put together a meme from a bit of ramblings he had.

Geez.

Trump comes from a background where he was the boss, and you had to kiss up to him, or you were fired. He's used to getting whatever he wants. The concept of being held accountable to the press or the public is completely foreign to him. He is easily the most thin-skinned and, yes, snowflakish President in modern history: maybe ever.

The scary thing is how long it's worked for him. He blows through norm after norm, keeps setting new lows, and the rest of the GOP and his supporters keep letting him get away with it. Every new criticism of Trump becomes just another reason to dig in their heels.

The only hope I have left for reaching these people is to show through satire how utterly ridiculous it is to celebrate his daily sayings.

Mainstream republican voters celebrate his sayings because they receive such a heavily filtered version of him. Often I find people who like trump but aren’t involved in politics still see him through the lense of 2016 and make many of the same arguments he made in his campaign.
On the other hand.. Some of the pro-trump memers on this site create a pure political fiction that evolves on a daily basis - trying to cram everything trump does through the winning hole.
