Ironic, given how much attention has been brought to sexual harassment/sexual assault issues in recent years.
Clearly, #MeToo is not the all-powerful movement that we thought it was. The backlash, I think, has been more potent than the movement itself.
Some men were brought to justice — but most weren’t.
Weinstein was finally criminally convicted a couple months ago — but only after many years and only on three counts, whereas 100+ women brought public accusations against him. That’s the bigger takeaway for me.
Bringing and winning these kinds of cases remains really, really hard. Even in the year 2020.
Final note: Biden has been most recently accused by one woman, but don’t forget the 20+ women who publicly accused Trump. And the 2016 minor rape lawsuit Trump was named in along with Epstein.
None of these cases have been fully litigated, unfortunately. But based on sheer numbers of claims, and Trump’s own “grab them by the pussy” hot mic remarks, I have to conclude that of the two 2020 Presidential candidates, it’s substantially more likely Trump is guilty of offending, and guilty of worse crimes as well.
