Yes, quarantining is painful and requires sacrifice. It's for a purpose: to buy us time for a cure -- a real cure -- or a vaccine, and for it to be scaled up into mass production. Or for new infections to ebb off substantially.
It's a pandemic, and people will die regardless of what we do. But if we act rashly, more people will die. And if we mess up, the "second wave" of infections could be even larger.
