See, that's not actually evidence. It's a few statements that contain bits of truth wrapped in oversimplified spin.
You use the term "locked down" as though there are only two options: lockdown and open. In fact, there are only 13 states on comprehensive lockdowns as of 4/20 (https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-state-by-state-guide-to-coronavirus-lockdowns-11584749351) and every state has some level of restriction in place. Match numbers up with when governors started issuing orders, and the curves start to flatten (Florida's didn't even begin to level out until the executive order on April 3 - https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/03/16/816707182/map-tracking-the-spread-of-the-coronavirus-in-the-u-s). Not everywhere, of course, because lockdowns are only as effective as they are obeyed.
"Death rates" aren't nearly as simple as we'd like them to be (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/17/us/coronavirus-death-rate.html), but it's not about how deadly this thing is in the first place - it's about how humanity doesn't have any protection from it, and if everyone gets sick at the same time a lot of people will die simply because the hospitals can't treat us all at once.
It IS worse than "the flu" (which, by the way, is not just one virus, it's myriad strains of a few viruses) because there is herd immunity against most flu strains and a certain amount of predictability in what strain will hit next (the flu shot is different every year for this reason). There is no immunity for this except by getting it and your body creating its own immunity (hopefully - the jury's still out on that). Until there is a vaccine, there is no one who comes in contact with it that will escape it.
Yes, this is hurting the US economy, and yes, people are out of work and struggling to put food on the table as a result, and that's a very serious problem. However, there's a cost in human life to ending these measures. Please trust the advice of medical professionals and experts in pandemic response over that of your preferred news outlet or politician.
