The issue is not what they know. It's how knowledge can be exploited for power or control.

When the bumper sticker reminds you to Question Authority, it does NOT ANYWHERE footnote "except governmental and quasi-governmental agencies, because of course they would never lie."

But if you didn't value that authority questioning in actual practice before, instead of just theory, it seems unlikely I'd make much headway explaining the point further.
