Life without money would be unthinkable. There's a reason every society of a certain complexity has it. This YouTube series does an excellent history of it.
The risk is not so much to you, but to everyone else. All those little brats down in Fla on spring break, will be bringing it back to their homes and risking their parents and grandparents and anyone with recent surgery or other ailments lives. I already know 2 people with it.
