The vast majority of leftists seem to base their so-called intellectualism on imagining non-existent or meaningless distinctions, then arguing those fantasies to the bitter end. Maybe that’s what you want to do here, because for all too many people, both of your definitions are one and the same. I will acknowledge that many people disliked Trump before he even ran for president; NYC is full of ‘em. I myself think he’s a clown. Anyway, back to hatred, which is a word with a meaning: if you believe that people REALLY HATE Trump, but are fully fine with his supporters or even people who voted for him (I've been told ad nauseam they're the same), then that’s a non sequitur and hence meaningless.
