Why can’t Trump lead a response to covid-19? Plain old lack of preparation, and his constant attacks on opponents for 3 years

Update: This morning, after negotiations with Trump, House Democrats voted unanimously to approve a Coronavirus relief and economic stimulus package.

However, 40 House Republicans voted against it. So Democrats actually did stand united behind Trump on a response to this issue. But Trump's own party didn't.

“Mr. Trump has no desire to acquaint himself with most issues, let alone master them” is how I put it four years ago. “No major presidential candidate has ever been quite as disdainful of knowledge, as indifferent to facts, as untroubled by his benightedness.” I added this:

Mr. Trump’s virulent combination of ignorance, emotional instability, demagogy, solipsism and vindictiveness would do more than result in a failed presidency; it could very well lead to national catastrophe. Well said. As for me, I actually gave Trump the benefit of the doubt for much longer than you, or most of my liberal friends.

I was wrong.

Ukrainegate was the final straw for me.
