Waiting Skeleton

Dr Peter Hotez just testified to Congress that he pitched them for funding on a vaccine for coronavirus in 2016 but spending tax money on healthcare is considered socialism.

So. Yeah. There you go.

Actually, the government already funds research for drug development.

So. Yeah. There you go.

Spending tax money on healthcare is not socialism, but anyway....

Great. Tell that to your congressman. Not-socialism failed to produce the vaccine when it had the opportunity.

Considering 99% of vaccines are made by capitalists, I don't see the point.

But the one that matters right now, capitalists passed on that opportunity.

So did the socialists apparently.. I don't see any European, North Korean or Venezuelan vaccines out there. In fact, those closest to producing one appears to be the evil capitalist pharma companies in the US. I guess they will save the day yet again.

Great. So where were they four years ago when a guy said it's ready, all he needs is capital?

You know, the entire function of capitalism being to provide capital to guys like him?

Where was the government? Where is it now? You act like there was some way to really know this was going to by such a hysterical thing as it is now. There are literally trillions of viruses mutating every year.

Still, try comparing vaccines and anti-virals created by capitalists to those created by socialists or any other government and you will find the capitalists provide them far more and far timelier than anyone else.

You act like "how were we supposed to know that money invested in viral research would one day be important?" is a valid argument!

The entire point of capitalism if freedom of choice. It has nothing to do with creating anti-virals. Take a look at the majority of all medicines and vaccines. They are all created by capitalism.

It's in the name. Capitalism is about capital. Look it up in a dictionary.

You act like spending money on "viral research" would have done anything about this and you act like there is no money being "invested" into viral research.

So far 39 dead in the US. Obama didn't declare a state of emergency until 1,000 US citizens had died of swine flu.

If you think this is some kind of scandal, you're wrong.

Again, he was developing a vaccine for this exact disease four years ago.

All we had to do was think ahead.

And again, the entire point of capitalism is to provide capital to those developing for the future. We failed to do so in this instance and nothing you are saying changes that.

Of course it isn't.
