Four years ago, I would have agreed with you, but I’ve noticed Bernie has been going further left lately. For example, Bernie called open borders a Koch Brothers conspiracy four years ago. Nowadays, he’s calling for open borders. Call him what you want, but his lurch to the left, plus his praising of regimes like the USSR and Cuba has me thinking he is what he says he is.

Not like it matters anyway. Whoever the nominee is, Trump will mop the floor with them.

I'm not quite sure about that last claim. What I came to realize a few decades ago is that very little people know what "comuninsm" or "socialism" is. The USSR was certainly neither. As a matter of fact, everything Karl Marx stood for was violated.

Now I'm not a fan of socialism, don't get me wrong. The system is a utopia and that already tells why it cannot be. At least not in its purest form. Pure capitalism doesn't work either, like history has been proving the past decades. The key always lies somewhere in between. A tiny bit of socialist politics would not hurt the US, but attempting to abolish capitalism completely, would in the end lead into what the USSR was.... A monopolist country where only the dictator had everything. That was the mistake they made when they founded the USSR. Marx was against the idea of one person having all power to themselves. In fact communism was invented in an attempt to end that what the USSR became. Ironic, don't you think?

I will not say that Trump will win anyway. Politics have done stranger things, and not only in the USA. If I got to put my money on it, I will still put it on Trump, though, but I won't be making very big bets. Some of the successes behind Trump lie in the fact that he looks for the extremes and in propaganda. I am not quite sure if Saunders really likes the fake-communist regimes. Perhaps he merely does so in order to counter the extreme phrases by Trump with extreme phrases of his own hoping that extreme phrases will be the key to defeat Trump. We will find out later if that actually worked. But we must also note that Trump (and his supporters) appear to be very fond in blowing things out of proportion, and whenever a politician makes a but of a statement that is not on the extreme end of rightist, they are deemed supporters of the USSR and shown with hammers and scythes, and what is the truth? Since 99% of the accusations in that field I've seen were proven false, I need 100% irrefutable evidence of Saunders indeed doing that.

Hey I don't like the guy. I think he's a creep. But I hate false accusations. Even to people I don't like.

1/? The USSR was communist. They’re literally the go to definition of communism, just like the Nazis were the go to definition of fascism. You can go ahead and argue that since they didn’t follow Marxist doctrine down to the letter that they aren’t communist, but they are. They followed Marx’s teachings and modified them when they needed to.
