There's no dispute about Romney's wishwashing to achieve shot-term interest. But you are confused big time if you think Romney vote in one way to satisfy Trump. The 80% vote rate just happen to be stuff that Republicans generally agree about.

Not all Republicans who criticize Trump are never Trumpers. And they usually criticize the politics (behaviour) and not the policy. I supported Trump against Hillary even though I loath his repulsive personal attitude. (I like appointment of judges who stick to text and the enforcement of immigration law ). His thin-skin is unbelievable.
⚠️ I was against impeachment because I thought the charges didn't compelled such outcome and because we were in an election year, and maybe Trump deserve to go down in a defeat. But he did what he was accused of. Last week he fired an inspector general for merely forwarding a letter and doing his job. Trump is expert at falling into ditches and proving every negative people say about him.
