That’s very misleading. Obama declared swine flu a “public health emergency” in April 2009 (the same month it was discovered) which mobilized resources and authorized additional spending.

Also: Trump still hasn’t declared a “national emergency” regarding coronavirus, so you’re comparing apples and oranges in terms of the response.

And I think Trump’s right: a national emergency may not yet be warranted for the entire country.
But, some cities and states are declaring one anyway. And Trump’s dismissive and partisan response to the pandemic thus far has been appalling in other ways.
