I agree with you, I think it would take some cosmic event to do us all in. Even the nastiest earth-based scenario would have a few pockets of survivors here & there.

2 ups, 5y
perhaps this is why Nasa's going back to the moon? so people may carry on in case of Earth's meteoric demise.
Someone creates a virus, Someone makes someone mad and makes another person mad and before you know it earth becomes an over-populated, over-polluted, diseased war zone
Probably something in space will go crazy or something and kill us all. But its not like earth will go anywhere because scientists think that Mars used to be a home to life but then something killed them off so probably something like that. Nothing any time soon, tho
Heck yeah. Good one R.P.
Space is a vast & hostile environment with lots of ways to destroy all life on earth in the blink of an eye.
Meteors, comets, cosmic radiation, ancient entities from another dimension, waiting, waiting...
The world or humankind? Because the world will continue to exist after we have destroyed ourselves. Whether anything will live on it afterwards remains to be seen and kinda depends in how we kill ourselves.
The world itself will probably get destroyed when our sun explodes in 4.5 billion years or so. It won't become big enough to swallow earth but when it sheds it's outer layers it will disintegrate the inner planets at least up to and including Mars and spread the debris into the void.
Either one, I guess.
I agree w/ you though, it would have to be the sun or cosmic force to take out the earth
completely.
I think it would take a lot to destroy all humans, much less all life on earth. We've survived some
pretty heavy cataclysms on this planet.
