You can't choose to be happy. Your body emits endorphins (feel good chemicals) which make you happier. What you CAN do, is do activities that you know makes you feel better. If you have a friend (or friend group) that you don't like, stop hanging out with them and find friends that make you emit endorphins and make you feel happy. Don't force out happiness, it makes you feel worse, and not showing your sadness will make it so then people will not comfort you and make you feel better. Feed your happiness, show your sadness, control your anger, and express your feelings about things that make you feel bad.
