I think this has happened all the time, already. And not only with words. Nobody associates a swastika with peace, fertility and prosperity even though that's what it stands for, but thanks to the NSDAP abusing the symbol.... Now the word "gay" only means "cheerful", now it refers not only to homosexuality (which is neither good nor bad) but is also used to say something is bad by some people. "This game is gay", for example. I do disapprove of that, though, but still. And so we have quite a long list, I think.....

I completely agree

A school banned the word “pow” because students used it in a “violent context”. And I wouldn’t consider pow a bad word in anyway. So, I agree that words can be turned bad by use

What are "good words" or "bad words"?

Example: bitch means female dog. How many people used it in such a bad way that it is considered a curse word?

I think the bad meaning here comes mostly from using it for people instead of dogs. So, basically you're calling someone a dog. A lot of "bad words" go along the lines of calling someone an animal. And that tradition dates back really far. So, I guess the "bad" in this case comes from using it in a different context than it was intended... 🤔
