Personally I pay about 40% when it's all said and done between Fed and State taxes, etc. And we don't have nearly the benefits of these modern, so-called "socialist" countries. The USA has the best economy with the most wealth. We can do better.

In any case I we have huge amounts of wealth in this country that could go towards the betterment of society. Healthcare, childcare and college can and should be paid for with taxes. Providing these basic needs to all of society would provide future generations with a better America. Not having to worry about these needs would spur ecomonic growth by entrepreneurs that otherwise are chained to low wage jobs. EVERYONE (including the most wealthy which I am not, I will guess you are not and nor will we probably ever be) would do better if we adopted these practices. We need middle/out not top/down economics.
