There will be no Civil War. The military is made up of professionals who take their oaths of office seriously. The Seals who turned in the coward Gallagher and testified against him were prefessionals. I would bet they were more likely conservative than liberal. And, the military poll faulted Trump on issues connected to acts on his part. The poll was taken before Vindman was sent back to the Pentagon. But, it was affected by the departure of Secretary Mattis, the pardons of unfit personnel and the abandoning of the Kurds in Syria. These issues drove Trump's numbers down. M.T.'s poll concerning Obama, had a Very Unfavorable tally of 29.1%, 16% fewer than Trump and a Very Favorable rating of 18% only six less than Trump. The very favorable ratings are probably driven by political orientation. But, on some policy issues they rated Obama very hightly. On building alliances with other countries to achieve military objectives, 69% gave him high marks. Some 64% gave him approved of his relying on special forces far targeted objectives. And, 60% liked that he approved the use of drones, to reduce potential harm to troops.
Obama was never as popular overall as Trump was when he first took office. But Trump talked a good show and has lost traction every year since then.
