Soya milk is also delicious and nutritious. Does taste justify cruelty?

Think about how the animals would feel about the honest answer before you give it. What if it was you in their position being tortured?

So, you wouldnt f**k of care if somebody wanted to kill you and butcher you just because they liked the taste of your flesh? Yeah right, I find that very hard to believe.

Vore
It's the "speciality" of eating, or being eaten by, another person whole.
People are into this stuff.

Would you be into that stuff if you were the one being killed to be eaten, though? How is being a "vore" justified when we can just eat plants?

Do you know anything about how European milk is different than North American milk?

Can you elaborate? How are European cows any different to North American cows in terms of their ability to feel??

I heard there was a mutation that affected the protein or something. Basically the European milk is different and not quite as bad. That could be wrong tho.

Hi Syd, Sounds like your referring to the A1 A2 allelle. Various breeds and herd types produce this variation in milk. There are various claims of benefits but i recall mainly on the side of Human tolerance of lactose. Personally A2 milks feel nicer in your stomach and I think are less reacted upon by bacterias existing in the gut is the explanation. However, if your interested to know more and more accurate than what I have begun to explain. You should start with a search on A1 A2 allelle cows milk and benefits.

Yes, that certainly sounds like biased "research" to me. Not quite as bad? It's still terrible for us and we can just eat plants and be perfectly healthy. How do you feel about the dairy industry and what happens to the cows and their young?

I don't drink milk. I just asked as I thought you might have researched it.

I think a cow can be sick and pass bad milk or clots that can't be extracted from the mix. I think it's wasteful as it takes approx 100 pounds of feed to get a pound of meat.

I'm not going to cry about animals getting milked but it's not great for you. But if cows weren't used for food and milk, they'd probably be extinct or in zoos, besides India. I think smaller farmers are more humane then big industrial farming. I use to look into health and nutrition alot more.

Oh, ok, I see. You're right, milk is terrible for us and, most significantly, for the cows.
So, just wanted to ask, why wouldn't you feel for the animals being milked when they suffer both physically and mentally for this secretion we don't need? How would we feel if it was us in their position? What gives us the right to still do that?
In terms of existence, is it better to exist and be tortured or not exist and not be tortured? As these industries rely heavily on supply and demand, they're only bred because we pay for them to be bred. Also, arent the cows from small dairy farms still sent to slaughter?... Can we do this humanely aka nicely? Would it make any difference to us if we were raised small scale or factory-farmed if we were about to be killed? How would we feel in their position?

No, I get it. Look at Koko the gorilla RIP.

The animal world is very cruel too tho. If we let all cows free, there'd be tigers slaughtering in major city streets. Condors swooping down. Grabbing toddlers here and there. Imagine.

That isn't how it works.

Calves who are taken from their mothers are known as "bottle babies" and are hand-fed formula by their caretakers until they begin grazing.

You might want to consult with someone who understands livestock before perpetuating these laughable myths.

FYI: Sheep are not killed to harvest their wool.....I had a good laugh at someone last week over that nonsense.

Wholly carp Richey, you actually believe that what is described in that link is how baby calves are handled by the livestock industry as a whole? Is your photo next to naive, in the dictionary?

Considering I have a herd of cattle roaming my pasture right now - yes, I do think that's what happens.

Sorry for my slow reply, but there are plenty of other idiot-worthy comments I had to get to first. And I certainly don't put you in that category. Still, just because you treat your cattle humanely, absolutely positively does not mean the beef industry as a whole does the same thing.

There are 6 livestock auction houses within 10 miles of me. I know a lot of cattle ranchers. The herd roaming my property is tiny, enough to qualify my property for tax exemption, because I don't want to even appear to be competition to anyone around here.

Each calf represents around a thousand dollars to a rancher. It doesn't make sense to kill a $150 calf, because after a year or so of grazing its value increases almost 10 fold (depending on breed). Ranchers (myself included), defend the calves against predators because losses hurt. Look up the term "bottle baby calf" - there's a whole market for it. Ranchers bottle feed the calves until they begin grazing because it's an inexpensive way to grow a herd quickly. While there is a market for veal, it's not very profitable for the rancher.

My livelihood is not dependent on the livestock on my land. I'm a software developer, I keep livestock for tax purposes....and the meat is a lot better.

They are still being seen and treated as property and nothing more. Look at their faces and actions and you know they have feelings. Is it caring to take a baby away from their mother when we can just farm and eat plants, that don't scream in pain?
Is it any consolation to them that somebody has hand-fed them some formula when they're artificially inseminated, have their calves ripped away from them, be milked for hours and then sent to the slaughterhouse?
They are not "livestock", as they are not property. Would we like to be treated as merely a piece of property and therefore have our rights abused and violated?
Whilst the sheep may not be killed at the exact moment at which their wool, their skin, is ripped off of them with blades, they are cut and their heads are slammed to the floor, they are killed when they cannot produce wool anymore, arent they? How is this ethical or kind? Would we be laughing if we were in their position?

You could try to go onto a ranch and set any of these "not property" animals free - but you'd quickly be arrested for theft....because they most definitely are property.

That is not what would happen if you tried that stunt with any of my animals. I'd just shoot you, because the laws in my state favor the protection of property by lethal force.

Don't shoot Rachel, Mike. Just throw dead chickens at her or something. She'll flee.
