I think the maths is that 50% of the population includes half the farmers, store owners, truck drivers, food processor workers etc, so it would have realistically killed off about 75% of the population

Only problem if you survive would be property devaluation. Be a great commute without all the cars on the road though.

or we find out how to live without having to eat or waste resources
