OKAY, SO HERE’S THE DEAL WITH WARREN. She came from a poor white Southern background in Oklahoma, where family lore about “a drop of Cherokee blood” is all over the place. I heard the same thing growing up, and while I am from the South, I am not even from Oklahoma where so many Native Americans lived. Anyway: she was wrong to have checked a couple boxes about Native American heritage as a youngster without looking more deeply into what she had been told by her family. She apologized awhile ago for this. Whether she ever benefitted from affirmative action or not, she still worked her way up from basically nothing. A more inspiring and impressive story than Trump, who grew up with about half a dozen golden spoons in his mouth. She’s not my candidate for different reasons, but she’s pretty alright honestly. /endrant
