It is ignorant to think that climate change now is any different than in the past 4.5 billion years Earth has existed! It is just mind mush peddled toward the gullible.

Climate changed for many different reasons over the past 4.5 billion years. It was not “the same” that entire time — that statement is ignorant.

Go ask a climate scientist and they’ll be able to tell you about all the earth’s major climatic shifts and more.

And as for today — what’s different than the past? Our earth now supports 7.7 billion humans. We’ve impacted the environment in many obvious ways, from strip-mining mountains to chopping down forests to dumping tons of plastic into the oceans.

What makes you think the atmosphere is somehow exempt from all this?

Yet again you distort what someone else said so you can smugly dismiss it with bs. What part of "climate CHANGE" escapes the limits of your understanding?

He doesn’t know what he’s talking about and neither do you. Both of your approaches to this are neatly summarized here.

Note the various zones listed, regions, summer heat & length requirements, etc.

Yes, that's from Burnt Ridge Nursery, a good & affordable source for bare roots, mostly fruits & nuts for folks, many suitable for critters too.

One of my sources, I buy in Spring yearly since I started wildlife gardening again.

Your feigned illiteracy, as adorable as it is, makes for a poor excuse in regards to your ignorance.

I'M the one that told you about grapes, you silly child, and further informed you about them farther down on this thread.

Oh, and Google the word "change" if the meaning truly escapes you.

A good healthy chunk of Australia is literally burning to the ground rn after its hottest and driest year ever, so yeah it might be time to consider minimal efforts to address this

If a meteor wipes us out instead, oh well, at least we tried. But NASA keeps a close eye on stuff like that and I’ve heard nothing of the sort.

LIAR!!!!!! STOP LYING YOU LIAR!!!! LIAR THAT YOU ARE YOU PROBABLY WONT YOU LYING LIAR!!!! lol

Police arrested over 180 people and charged them with arson and you keep perpetuating this lie.
Liar!
2 ups, 4y
The "183 arrests" thing that deniers have picked up and ran with is actually fake news. The authorities have taken actions from cautions through criminal charges, and the number of actual criminal charges is a small minority. https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/news/news_article?sq_content_src=%2BdXJsPWh0dHBzJTNBJTJGJTJGZWJpenByZC5wb2xpY2UubnN3Lmdvdi5hdSUyRm1lZGlhJTJGODIyNjQuaHRtbCZhbGw9MQ%3D%3D

Weird how an enormous problem that everyone is talking about would generate pressure on authorities to find someone responsible!

No convictions as yet, to my knowledge. The wheels of justice just don't move that fast. unless some have pled guilty already, we have to presume them innocent until proven guilty.

And: no evidence whatsoever of a widespread conspiracy by Extinction Rebellion, or whoever, to burn down an entire country to prove a political point.

Bottom-line, even if some of these fires were started by humans (and they probably were), fires don't get this large and out of control without underlying factors of heat and dryness. Both of which were higher last year in Australia than ever before.

You should use a pic of Extra-Absorbant for Heavy Flow Tampons as a template to meme your tears of the day.

Oh, and don't worry TOO much about them wine grapes. According to you, in 80 years they might be growing them in Scotland. So tis cool, or rather, hot.

The amount of ignorance on this site is astounding
0 ups, 4y
I would suggest you look up grape growing and varieties to clear up your ignorance.

Sun, heat, water, etc, influence production, taste, susceptibility to fungal and other diseases, fruit cracking on the vine, etc.
Cultivars bred suitable to particular areas may not grow or produce well in different areas.
Not just grapes, mind you, this applies to apples, cherries, other fruits... What does well in Zone 7 CA might not necessarily do as well in Zone 7 NY.

This is one projection of where wine might be grown in the U.K. in 80 years. It is just one prediction and I took it from an industry-oriented website, not climate scientists.

All the usual caveats apply about far-ranging predictions on a topic as complex as the world’s climate, subject to as many variables as impact global warming.

Example: What if world’s countries band together in the year 2025, and actually meaningfully reduce greenhouse gas emissions? Then this prediction might be wrong!

What if a meteor strikes us out of the blue in 3 years as suggested by u2smile, somehow escaping the detection of NASA? Then there may be no wine at all!

The map is food for thought, and we won’t know for sure until the year 2100 rolls around.

By which point we’ll all be dead, all children being born today will be in their 80’s, and our grandchildren and their children will be living in whatever world we left behind for them.

They don't mean squat.

Informed projections mean everything to wine growers and other people whose livelihoods depend upon the earth.

80 years is a bit too far out to do real planning. It’s food for thought.

But are vintners very interested in what growing conditions will be like next year, 5 years, 10 years from now? You bet.

Fantasies are fantasies.

Oil & the Ogallala Aquifer will have run out slightly past halfway there anyways, so no need worry about them darn grapes going like its ampelopsis cousin has been taking over round these parts,,,

You really thought the point you were making in the previous conversation was worth turning it into a meme on it's own? Not to mention you're basing your argument on a big f**king 'might'. Well, MIGHT as well. It's not like any of the predictions EVER made came true.

We won't know until the year 2100 rolls around - Whahahahahaha, this has got to be a joke! What happened to 'we have 12 years left'? I thought science was settled? Let's face it. You guys have no science to back up any of the claims you make, and you, like the 'scientists' (including Gore, AOC, Greta) just pull these numbers and theories right out of your ass.

Other than Minogue and pornographic memes, that's pretty much all he does.

Up until last week he'd also add a link to the original thread where he had posted the meme as a comment, and even add the name of the memer who butthurt him there in a tag or title.
He then proceeded to mock them without them knowing, adding on occasion that his his wife had a giggle with him over coffee at the dummies on imgflip who hurt his feelz so much he had to meme about it so he can have a good cry with a nice cuddle from said spouse afterwards.

You actually sleep? Does your sock puppet wife ever get to see you?

I can see you're getting torn up on another meme by someone else.
Don't let lil' ol' me interefere with your butthurt, you have only so many tears to shed, and from your ad hominems tonight, I can tell you're a tad on the dehydrated side.

I’d rather do it now than tomorrow morning

It’s cute that you come onto my memes — and rake through my activity with such a fine-toothed comb that you can ascertain when I have or haven’t upvoted a meme comment — and then accuse me of being the stalker
1 up, 4y
Of course you did, of course.
Was just sleep posting before, huh?

Don't like your memes being looked at (and you know I haven't looked in how many days?), then don't post them.

As for your emotionally stunted adolescent fixation, that's between you and your therapist.

Predictions about wine production in the U.K. in the year 2100 are a mere curiosity. Interesting to think about but not all that important compared to other issues.

The point of the OP meme is that industries other than climate scientists are preparing for changes and indeed already adapting to them.

If you want to read the real science that backs up the claims, start here. https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/

You're back to calling it Global Warming again, cool bro!

What's the difference between global warming and climate change anyway?
0 ups, 4y,
2 replies
At this point, there is no practical difference between those two terms.

I am told that the term "climate change" started to be used more often when the world experienced a slight leveling-off in temperature rises around 1999 through the 2000s. But then the trajectory of warming sped up again in the 2010s.

If the world ever started to cool off, then "climate change" would theoretically describe that. But that's not what's happening. The red trend line since the 70's indicates warming.

Looking at year-over-year data is intriguing but you need to zoom out and see decades to get the big picture.
0 ups, 4y
Do you even LOOK at your chart?
The 70s witnessed a dip in temps so pronounced, the next Ice Age was said to be arriving in 20 years from then.
0 ups, 4y
This guy made it easy and zoomed out for us

That was my point and I thank you for blindly walking me over to it.
In the 60-70s it was "the new ice age", then in the 80s we went into "global warming", then when all these BS predictions weren't playing out as intended, they went to calling it what planet earth does and has been doing naturally for the last 4.5B years - and that is change.
0 ups, 4y
Vaga: Indeed, some climate scientists predicted a coming "ice age" in the '70s because the leveling off in temperature rises was surprising. Turns out: They were wrong!

Other climate scientists theorized this period was an anomaly and that temperatures would again begin to rise as predicted all along by the greenhouse gas models. And turns out: They were right!

Here's a good paper from 1975 on exactly this by Wallace Broecker, one of the guys who was right and argued "complacency may not be warranted" on the rising CO2 levels.
https://blogs.ei.columbia.edu/files/2009/10/broeckerglobalwarming75.pdf

If it was wrong to be "complacent" about this in the 70's, then it is surely wrong now.
