Thanks, Kylie. It's enjoyable in these divided times to have a civil and rational discussion on our different viewpoints, especially since it's fairly rare but this streamm is pretty good for that.

Who out of that list would you say is informing me about things?

Besides wise old you of course?

Purgeboy -- 0 (obviously, lol).

Timber -- You've educated me once or twice within the reams of nonsense you've spouted.

Vagabond -- Eh. She at least brings data to the conversation, though it doesn't always support her proposition or contradict the points I'm making.

SydneyB -- He has a nice sense of humor and is quite intelligent, and though he's quite conservative and I disagree with him on many things, we find common ground from time to time and debating with him is a joy.

Strangelove -- He's whip-smart, cautious in the claims he makes, and you'll pretty much always learn something from him. (When you're having a good-faith conversation with him, that is. When you disrespect and troll him he's not afraid to dish it back.)

I guessed, per your request! What was your opinion now?

1 — I can’t make heads or tails of your first paragraph.

3 — No. I “agree” politically with plenty of people here while still disagreeing sharply with their tone and approach. I thoroughly chewed out a Left-Winger here on ImgFlip for posting pictures of Trump supporter’s beaten-up face. And when I talked with Sydney about this I called him the worst character I’d ever encountered on ImgFlip (maybe purgey is a bit worse).

Also: How do you square the kind words I offered about Sydney with your speculation about the reasons I like Strangelove? (I expect you will say something like it is a “ploy to make me seem reasonable” rather, you know, me being reasonable)

4 — I’ve considered all these perspectives offered on ImgFlip and more in my life. They are not all that unique. Except maybe Vagabond’s as they are pretty unique. She marches to the beat of her own drum in a lot of ways.

Even your perspectives, though offbeat and not echoed by many if any around here, are what I’d file under the heading of “constitutional conservative” or hardcore libertarian which I most certainly encountered and even supported when following the Ron Paul presidential campaign in ‘08. Then I grew up a bit and realize we live in a society and paying taxes is necessary and patriotic and all that. And that the American government, while far from perfect, is not somehow “out to get” its own citizens and the functions it performs often cannot be substituted with private action.

It is cute that you continue to regard me as a political neophyte and hold out hope that I am going to one day come around to accepting your harebrained view of the universe.

I don’t care if you learn from me — you seem far too self-involved and closed off to differing perspectives for that — but others will.
