Weirdest thing that someone had to be the first to do to know/have it today?

Maybe using leeches for practicing medicine. Also, using human waste as "cures." Seems like self-preservation instincts would've made those difficult. Same with first to domesticate any large dangerous wild animal. As far as less dangerous things, cooking with fire must've rocked their worlds. Not to mention the first writer of language...

Yeah, that all sounds like weird and interesting 'first things' for someone to do.

Be a medieval knight who gets hand taken off at the wrist by a cannonball so you have this made and can smoke or sign your name or hold a shield.

Lol, this one time my friend asked me if I wanted a drink and I said, 'No, but if I do, I'll probably pick the worst time." So she replied, "Well, when's the worst time to get a drink?" So I answered, "Well, I'll probably wait until I'm on the verge of dehydration." We all had a good laugh at that.
