Respect. My grandfather on my dad's side served in Vietnam as well. But just cause someone leans left politically doesn't mean they saw/see Vietnam veterans as 'baby killers'. Far-leftists aren't representative of everyone who leans left on the political spectrum, just as alt-rightists certainly aren't representative of the average republican or right libertarian.

I have relatives who served in WWII and Korea. Vietnam was a sad war that caused a lot of carnage and in retrospect was probably unnecessary. Much like Iraq.

I agree it is wrong to call American troops "baby killers." However, it is worse to make a bad judgment that sends a soldier to his grave unnecessarily than to call that same soldier a "baby killer."

We should respect our veterans' service and sacrifices enough to have intelligent discussions about the use of force, and vigorous debate about when it is appropriate to send our troops into combat or not.

If our government sends troops into harm's way unnecessarily, it is our duty to speak up and say something.

Exactly, if you're gonna protest, hate the war not the soldiers. Many were drafted, already serving, or enlistment was the best economic option. The government's messy handling of the situation was what protracted U.S. involvement and led to that unnecessary carnage. Seriously, Vietnam was a colossal bureaucratic mess. Everything from not issuing cleaning kits for M16s(they literally told soldiers it was self-cleaning to cover this up) and buying cheaper ammunition(saving like literally 30 cents a round) which caused the rifles to jam and cost many soldiers their lives, to continuously sending more and more troops even after the supposed Vietnamization and promises to get the hell out of there.
