The impeachment trial in the Senate is presided over by the Chief Justice of the Supreme court, and Federal evidentiary rules apply. That means no hearsay. There will be 2 fact based witnesses. Vindman has already testified that quid-pro-quo wasn't in the call, it was only his opinion. Sondland already testified that Trump told him "there is no quid-pro-quo".

That's when it gets fun. Do they look into the request? Do they subpoena Hunter Biden? Do they ask the Ukrainian prosecutor to testify? Here's a preview of that - the prosecutor stated in an interview that he was fired because he was investigating Hunter Biden.

Here's a problem for you to consider in your pseudo-legalese way. The Chief Justice is there to rule on legal issues. What if the Democrats ask for an airing of the audio tape made of the conversation? Wouldn't that clear the air? If you are right and he is 100% innocent, we will all hear it with our own ears. A panel of non-partisan experts with top secret clearances could beep out anything not cleared for the public, and let the Republican and Democratic Party leaders know what was cut. Play the tape.
