I'm an electrical engineer at a construction engineering firm. We provide electrical, HVAC, and plumbing plans for contractors to install all the systems that make modern day buildings comfortable for everyone that inhabits them. It's a fun job :)

It actually stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. ;D

Come on man, everybody knows the FP guys get on site and run their crap wherever the heck they want to and then we all have to work around it... ;)

Man, when I first started, I was kinda shocked at the lack of cooperation between trades on the job sites (as far as sharing space above ceilings) Some guys try harder than others, but for the most part, it's just "1st come, 1st served & screw everybody else." We always seem to be the last to get there.

Yeah it's generally awful...some GC's coordinate their subs better than others, but you're right it is generally first come first served...except that the experience on my part was always the FP guys come in first, lol! But, it was usually the HVAC guys arguing with them about space, not the sparkies...our stuff is more flexible than others so we ended up getting the leftover space.

Yeah, definitely the bulky HVAC stuff is way more often the problem.
Maybe we're always last because our designer is always looking at memes.
