From what I've heard, they willingly tried to confirm the identity of the Whistleblower. Which is unconstitutional.

Nope, they are protected from everyone within the Federal Government of revealing the identity. It is not mutually exclusive to the Inspector General.

There is only one provision in the Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act (ICWPA) that deals specifically with whistleblower anonymity. That provision says the inspector general should not disclose the whistleblower’s identity without their consent, unless the watchdog determines that “such disclosure is unavoidable during the course of the investigation." (in reference to the Inspector General Act of 1978)

Ah, you're right. It is not illegal. However, a member of Congress who reveals the whistleblower's identity could face legislative sanctions; if a member of the public risks a civil lawsuit from the whistleblower's legal team, which has threatened to hold anyone who reveals the name personally liable if the disclosure results in harm to the whistleblower or the person's family.

The whistleblower is getting himself into enough trouble. Opening a gofundme? What an idiot! He outed himself....if Schiff hadn't already outed his identity in a tweet last week.

You were doing so well, maybe you can keep it up. The whistleblower is only allegedly receiving gifts from a GoFundMe account raising money for Whistleblowers. There have been no reports that THE whistleblower started the account, requested money from the account, nor obtained finances from the account. This seems like just another attempt to out the whistleblower. I doubt it'll work.

Schiff already outed him, publishing an unredacted transcript last week.
