OP, do you know how much money not just sports teams themselves generate but the businesses they directly and indirectly infuse cash into?
Days ago it was announced that Major League Baseball entered into a contract with Nike to have exclusive rights to sell their clothing apparell etc. Area businesses that sell tees and whatever Yankee memorabilia are crying foul because their business will be shut out.
In addition to them, other local businesses such as food, transport, etc also benefit immensely from the team.
Don't like it? That's cool. Don't watch, don't give them your money (I don't). Simple.
Let's see what you can do about paying teachers & drs more and how that can have the same economic rippling effects sports does.
