California passed SB54 Sanctuary Law for people serving time - it prevents jails from contacting ICE when illegals/undocumented inmates finish their sentence and are eligible for deportation. They're simply released back into general public. The bill makes exception in cases where the illegals/undocumented have been convicted of serious or violent felony. So California passed three separate laws (Prop 47, Prop 57 and Assembly Bill 109) that work together to solve that problem by reducing most of the felonies down to misdemeanours, and result in shorten sentences and early release.
