Democracy is the form of government we use to govern our republic. The process is democracy.

The major difference between a democracy and a republic is that a republic is a form of government whereas a democracy is an ideology that helps shape how a government is run. Put another way: a republic is the system of government that allows a country to be democratic.

In case you were unaware, the founding fathers detested the idea of a democracy.

I hope you don't mind that I chose to not stoop to childish insults.

Why not? You have a childish intellect and understanding of the world.

So please tell me how that "democracy" worked for Hillary Clinton?

Republic sure worked out great for Donald Trump!

This Botathon reminds me of the time that I was swarmed by Scientologists. I survived that. This group tantrum is nothing compared to them. I've heard this silly "It's a republic," argument since 1963, when my brother came home during a semester break at Yale. It is just as silly. Cuba calls itself a Republic. I guess we must be just like them!

The US Constitution promises a Republican form of government. Why don’t you read it.

The founders had three specific criteria in mind when they wrote the "Guarantee Clause." The first was that political decisions had to be made by a majority of the citizens, which suggests they had democracy in mind. The second was that there be no monarch. And, the third was that the rule of law applied to everyone. I remember reading that in the literature of the conservative Heritage Foundation during the Bicentennial.

No, the only place where there was suppose to be a direct vote To elect folks was in the House, hence the term, “the people’s house”. Senators were suppose to voted in by each state’s assemblies. And the President by electoral college vote.

And, they feared an uninformed electorate would elect a populist charleton President who would act like a monarch. The electoral college would elect one of them, or someone similar. They also thought slavery and women not having the vote was cool. The original document was not perfect. That is why one of the first things they did was amend it. Times change, but I hope that we still do not want a monarch, who does not answer to laws and the will of the people, as our leader.
