The reason I put my comment there is because there is a difference between declaring that one is trans and having the surgery. Personally, if a kid says that they're trans, I'm fine with that. However, it would be a better option for the parents to wait for the kid to be mentally articulate enough to have the surgery. Otherwise, they face dangerous consequences if the kid isn't actually what he/she has declared.
