What Timber here is gailing to acknowledge - is that we are living in the "socialist" mixed economy, with some of the highest disparities in income and wealth, that the world has ever known... Worse than even the gilded age. A tax upon OBSCENE WEALTH as opposed to income - is no threat to mom and pop businesses, or anyone outside of the higher echelons of the 1%. A small tax on financial speculation on Wall Street, also makes sense. Eliminating the Trump-Ryan Tax cuts for Billionaires, which are permanent - as opposed to the relatively modest tax cuts for the middle class - which will be "sunseting" to pay for that sop to the super wealthy - are all great ways to pay for things that would benefit us all (like single payer healthcare, dental and vision, and free tution at public Colleges and Universities). But of course the one thing that Timber really appreciates about "socialism" is the Pentagon - which LITERALLY can't account for TRILLIONS of dollars. Some of that may be covert financing for our imperial wars of aggression - but.much of it goes to the weapons industry - and their investors.
