Hey MiniAppleIs, Those particular numbers are from a study done by a Dutch historian named Pieter Spierenburg. There's been many studies around the world on ancient homicide rates. They're all within the same bounds. His is the most cited and respected.
Hey Octania, The history of firearms is well documented. 1364 was the first recorded use of a firearm. First war fought with firearms Battle of Agincourt in 1415. The technology spread fast after that.
First war fought with guns was in 1288...Mongol-led Yuan Dynasty of China. Look up the Heilongjiang Hand Cannon. Very easy to mass produce. You could easily cary 20+ of them loaded up and ready to fire. By the 1500s we had the Wheellock mechanism. Look it up before you comment please.
I'm honestly trying to follow what you're saying. Is English a second language ?
Why did you say "Mesopotamia is not the World?" I never mentioned Mesopotamia.
The first use of guns was actually before 1364....1364 is just the first recorded use.
This isn't controversial stuff.
Any history professor at any school in the world will tell you the same thing. Just use Google. It's on Wikipedia and a 1000 other websites. It's like you're trying to argue that blue is yellow.
I'm trying to have a conversation. I would like to hear a good point from someone. All you've said is "false statements" (Like guns came in the 1600s or governments didn't start until 1300s) That's crazy talk. Other than that you try to insult me...which is exactly what people do when they have no facts. It's all up there for everyone to see VagabondSouffle. So run away with tail between your legs...that will be the first smart thing you did.
Samuel Colt was born in 1814...not the 1300s. The meme above is one piece of evidence. Centralized government has been around since at least 3000 BC which is around 4000 years before the gun was invented. Common sense should tell you that guns were a gigantic factor in self defence. Before guns...all you had was your physical strength and or the numbers in your clan. One gun can control 100 people without a gun. You really need to think this through before you comment.
That's what I thought when I learned this :) Watch the video I link below. It's a speech from the Netherlands Chief of Defense...talking about how the "the gun" is the reason we have so much world peace these days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjAsM1vAhW0
Putting your head in the sand doesn't make a fact go away. It's not presented as "proof"...it's just a "fact." A very interesting fact....that together with many other facts...become proof.
Didn't say the facts are wrong, rather you used a fallacy to reach your conclusion. You'll see other counties where gun ownership and increased murders correlate as well. It's because other factors play a big part.
You need to take a deep breath and calm your brain down. The county by county thing is just another "fact." I'm presenting "facts" and will let "you" (and everyone else) decide when the facts add up enough to become a truth.
LOL, you incorrectly assumed the side I'm on. As for your conclusion you put it right at the top of your meme above the chart. An opinion and not a fact based off of correlation implying causation.
You're talking about the "World with no guns is ruled by muscle...world with guns ruled by brains"??? Are you serious??? If you were as smart as you acted, you'd understand that is not "a conclusion." It's what's called a "self evident truth." All you need is common sense to figure that out. Have you ever heard of the Dunning-Kruger Effect? Look it up...you are a classic case.
What conclusion??? It's creepy how you really believe you're making some kind of point. Where do I state a conclusion? I present "a fact"...nothing more, nothing less. You can accept it or you can ignore it.
