That's unsubstantiated propaganda. You have no legitimate way to claim "more than half the country" thinks that. (And anyone who genuinely believes he's an idiot is the one who's the real idiot.)
And before you go trying to claim the totally unimportant "popular vote", don't forget a few things. One, that vote was almost 4 years ago, and Hillary's popularity and reputation have (rightfully) taken a major nosedive.
Two, unlike Hillary, Trump wasn't /trying/ to win the popular vote, because he knew it was (as mentioned) unimportant. If he had tried to campaign for popular vote, I'm sure he would have beaten Hillary with no trouble, all he would have had to do was tone down his trollish rhetoric a bit and play populist to liberals too, which he would have done.
Three, just the fact that he lost the popular vote proves nothing anyways. He only lost it by about 3 million votes, and only about /half/ of voting-age Americans actually voted in 2016, leaving 123 million people who didn't vote, and you don't get to automatically count them as against Trump. And that also means, therefore, that the MOST you could honestly say for fact is that /one quarter/ of the country didn't like him, /4 years ago/.
And four, Trump's approval rating just surpassed Obama's, and that's /despite/ having 92% negative press, whereas Obama had the press licking his feet.
