Actually you're right, he didn't denounce "white nationalism" because there's absolutely nothing wrong with being a white nationalist.

Nationalist: a person who loves their country above all others

Your rationalization is not universally accepted. White Nationalists in America, for example think their racism is a correct philosophy to adhere to. Read what the Daily Stormer says on the subject. They say he is a racist, White Nationalist, etc. How would they know? They say they speak the same language.

Dumb people hear "-ist" and associate whatever word it's attached to with rac"ist". I'm not interested in propaganda warping definitions to suit their own opinions, but I should probably check it out anyway. It's good to know how other people think

Having lived through the violent Black Nationalist movement in America in the 1960-70 period, I can say that I am opposed to all Nationalist movements. I see little to nothing to be gained by such extremism. I was raised to be a patriotic American. America is many things and many people because it was founded and has been mainatined as a free country. That is why the extremist movements can exist. Germany, which has lived throught a White Nationalist movement, totally outlaws them. I have not seen it, but, I heard that Trump said he is not a "White Nationalist," this morning. That will do little to lessen his support among such people. He has already conned them. It is what he does. He gets people to think he is giving them something when he is picking their pockets. He has conned people into thinking that he is motivated by a political ideology. They gave him power for four years, and they got? When he leaves office, minorities will still have the same rights as citizens they do. They have all been used by Trump, while he has lined his pockets. It is almost pitiful.
