I love this place

People here get my sense of humor and also have a sense of humor of their own. I have in the halls of imgflip what I have never had on any social media elsewhere. No where else can you post and talk about what is bugging you and have people drop some hilarious and politically incorrect response which will have you laughing and forgetting your problems in no time. The fact that we don't have to tip toe around worrying about offending people is refreshing. We are all really anonymous here, unless you choose to show your face and provide your name. So while we don't always know exactly who we are interacting with there is much less judgement.

Agree! I think the anonymity also sort of keeps others from forming preconceived notions about one another, and it really helps to focus on the humor. It brings out the best in most of us here.

I always wonder though, what if someone I know but but despise in one of my favorite people on here? LOL!

Definitely the community. I would say both Reddit and Youtube have better content, but no site beats Imgflip in terms of the community

This place is pretty tight knit, lots of good people here for sure!

Good: because it is funny
Bad: its hard to talk or know if that person is around

yes, definitely good for the humor. and sometimes i think it might be nice to see what people are currently "active", but at the same time i also think that bolsters the anonymity for users, which personally I think is a great feature of the site that many here really enjoy. It makes it so that when you're here you can just focus on being funny and not worry about offending anyone. I think one aspect of humor that is mostly lost any more is being politically incorrect, and because everything is mostly anonymous here you can be very politically incorrect without having to worry about if someone you know is going to be offended. It's sort of revived that part of humor that's so taboo these days, but hilarious.

You could start with this is a site dedicated to humor (aside from the politics) and we are here to laugh. Humor generally brings people together.

I see, so from a pure website platform it's still just a platform. You're referring more to the people who actually use it? Agree, humor is a good basis to foster friendships and encourage interaction. We all like to laugh.

I spent a great deal of time on a gaming forum (in the off-topic section) for years. I still have friends from that time. The community was very much like here, lots of kidding each other, lots of humor. But the moderation changed and destroyed it for me. I miss the friends I made there that I have lost touch with.

Now I was here before too and had made some friends, but it was the political crap that had taken over the site that turned me away and I left. But I still love humor and I would come back so I could make memes to entertain my friends at work and that brought me back into the fold. Separating the political from the rest was the best move a place like this could do. Humor sites need to remain dedicated to humor. Unfortunately political memes are now often written purposely by groups (paid trolls) that have no interest in the humor that this place is for.

That said I have had good conversations with individuals that post in politics, but also do care about humor. Real people that you can reason with even when you disagree. That is the power of a common sense of humor.

And political correctness is a crutch. Some use it as a means to be angry because they like being angry and others use as a means to scream look at me! (I once got into a verbal fight with a guy in a wheelchair that wanted me to sign a petition to change handicapped parking to differently abled parking. He played his ace card and proclaimed that he was not handicapped. I showed him my straight flush and told him then don't park there! He left.)

I can't say for sure since I dont know anyone on imgflip irl, but I get the impression that most people on here are quite genuine.

Bar a few bad eggs we are all just here to have a laugh and share with each other things that maybe we wouldn't feel comfortable to IRL. Maybe it's the anonymity that makes this site such a great place.

We're from all over the world and from completely different backgrounds. The fact that we can share so much with each other I think is pretty amazing. Other social media sites such as facebook and Instagram seem to be platforms people use for self promotion by people who have little interest in anything other than themselves.

I just love the fact that this site is sort of small, humble, and comfortable. Not some big, toxic place like Reddit or something. And then there's the fact you meet the same people every time, it's not just a one time "nice meme" and you never see the again

It is literally a mashup of Memecenter and Reddit, except it is not as normie as the two.

If there's one thing I'd like changed about IMGFlip, it would be to have a 'dark mode' (like on YouTube or Chrome). It is much more soothing to the eyes than white bacground. For me, at least.

Never been to memecenter... I'll check it out sometime but I've made my home here! I didnt even know that there was a dark mode on the others.
