Given that this is the land of the free, I tend not to care so much...unless you just completely and utterly throw all respect for the flag and our nation out the window. Then we got a beef. Wear a patriotic t-shirt or something innocent enough, yeah that's fine. Wear a t-shirt with a picture of a burning flag that says f""k america...yeah we might have some issues. Bikinis, unless you made them from actual American flags I dont see the big deal, it's patriotic fashion statements at that point. A lot of it has to do with attitude too. If you're rex at rex kwon do daring somebody to take a roundhouse kick to the face while wearing American flag pants, that's cool. If you're an anti america wearing the flag while protesting, you deserve a roundhouse kick to the face.

Yes, actually. Flag code discourages the use of the American flag's appearance in clothing, even more so if it's made with fabric previously used in a flag. That said, I'd say the bikini in the meme is somewhat alright as it has too few stars (which are disoriented anyway) and too many stripes.

I always felt like flag clothing was a bit of a grey zone. Usually they just use the Stars and Stripes in the design but it does not look like a flag exactly. I can see why people would be offended especially if it was a previous flag.

I believe that it's respectful because it shows how your so proud of America your willing to wear a bikini with the American flag on it. Imagine, if you will, that a lady wore a bikini with a nazi flag on it. There would be uproar, and she would probably have the police called on her. Why you may very well ask, well, it's because most people would think that she's respecting the Nazi flag.
