And now I’m seeing political memes in fun that are featured

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit. I really think the admins are afraid to talk to me about this because they can’t admit they are in the wrong.

Or at least the memes aren’t political but their subject matter leads to a lot of political discussions in the comment section

Some memes can be deemed political if they even just /mention/ something politics-related, even if the meme itself has literally no political message, like this one I made a few months back, originally posted in fun:

That being said, without seeing the memes you're talking about, I couldn't begin to guess why they got unfeatured, other than the obvious fact that someone reported them.

Here are some that I have had it happen to.
imgflip.com/i/36pwau
imgflip.com/i/363imc
imgflip.com/i/361pa5 - while the original can be political, wanting to ask why it was removed for harassment isn’t.

Sorry for delayed response, I didn't have time when I saw you replied, then I forgot about it.

Okay, so, for the first one, I'd have to call that one political. It's making a political statement about Hillary.

Second one, yeah, I'd have to say this one falls under political too. Again, it's making a political statement about AOC (that she doesn't belong in a government position). Now if it had said something like "Hey AOC, wanna play "Bill and Monica" with me?", then it could go in fun.

Third one is just a case of certain mods not liking being questioned on their decisions I'd guess. At least certainly not in the fun stream. That would probably go better in the imgflip stream at imgflip.com/m/imgflip

Fourth one, ditto.

Fifth one, yeah sorry, I gotta go with calling that one political too.

There a bit of a fine line between a meme mentioning something related to politics but not being a political meme (like mine I linked earlier), and a meme actually being political in nature. And even if it IS the former, some halfwit can still whinge and get it unfeatured from the proper stream.

Except for the first one has religious context to it. Also the assumption is being made that it has to do with Hillary’s political actions and not other actions she has done.

The second one can very easily been seen as just wanting to f*** her, regardless of how stupid she is.

Third one would only go into imgflip if I wanted to try to get a mod to answer why it was considered harassment. Wanting to get a wider audience to view it and explain how it was harassment requires using a thread in which there is a higher audience. Still doesn’t explain why it was removed for being political.

Fourth one was removed for being political in nature. Why?

There was more politics in the meme that you linked than that of my third, forth, and fifth combined.

The thing that is messed up is the decision is made based off of an individual’s perception and not the intent of the creator, and there is no way to dispute it. And you don’t even get your submissions back or be able to resubmit where they think it should go without recreating it.

Sometimes it's "an overabundance of caution". Years ago I submitted this meme and it got featured.

imgflip.com/i/2d8dc3

Later I submitted a reworked version--same woman, same text. And THAT mod marked (the repost) NSFW.

At first my reaction was "WHAT ?? HOW IS THAT NSFW ?? It isn't sexual, doesn't use profanity, etc."

THEN I realized it COULD be interpreted as you thinking of it as regarding SOME UPPER MANAGER AT YOUR EMPLOYER. "JOHNSON!-- DO NOT think of me as "some little peon from hell". I'M THE DIVISION MANAGER! If the COMPANY PRESIDENT saw that you think that way about our upper management he'd FIRE you for looking at this crap at work!"

I can actually tell you why it yours was marked NSFW. It was actually done automatically as they setup an algorithm that flags certain words as NSFW, hell being one of them. Asexual will also get flagged for NSFW, as well as a lot of words that contains NSFW words as being part of them. It isn’t something a mod is actually doing, but something the site itself does.

As far as my memes that get unfeatured, it is because of the biased nature of the liberal mods of this site. Because the memes don’t bash the president, Republicans, or anything else they are against, they will find any excuse to unfeature them.

I once submitted a meme about how Samsung VCRS are better than Sony VCRS and apparently that was too political.
