I took piano lessons for a year, but I quit because of my piano teacher…….she wasn't my favorite person to say the least…very different personalities. But I started playing again recently, so we'll see how that goes, it's been n early two years since my last lesson, but thanks!

In my 51 years of living, I have never taken up an instrument! You have, and that's great!

I have wanted to practice guitar playing for so long. Probably next year

You should music is a great stress reliever, and a way to escape. If you have a guitar you can go on YouTube, I learned to play saxsaphone on there. I'd bet you'll be really good at it!

There are so many great lessons on Youtube. Wish it had been around when I was a teen.

My biggest issue will be my fingertips. I'm not sure if I can callous them up at age 52
2 ups, 5y
It's tough at any age but with perseverance and a couple weeks of pain, you'll do it. I learned on an old Hofner acoustic, my developing callouses would rip off when I tried to bend, but it didn't take too long. Start with an electric guitar like a Stratocaster and you'll get there in no time.

What kind of style do you want to play?
2 ups, 5y
Just basic acoustic for soft and friendly Spiritual music making

Ahhh. A nylon string guitar can be nice too. I have a Fender 12 string. If you're not going to bend, and are serious about learning, I'd suggest a 12 string. They really sound beautiful.

It won't be for another year or so, but I'll look into it. Thanks

Yes, i love the fingerpicking guitar work of Simon. Another good one is the Boxer.

Poem is just 2 minutes. The bass and guitar is so great. Simon snaps out some high strings that makes it pop.

It's like crack to me. So 60's. It's got a certain swing or funkiness to it.

The middle part is so perfect. You hear what i mean, there'll be a decending bass line and he'll ring out a couple notes on the high e string?

I think he wrote it in a single night, quickly. He was really a great guitarist, especially on his 60's song. Great writer.

Acoustic version of "house of the rising sun" by mark o'connor, or many other bluegrass instumentals...union house branch by union station, devil chased me round the stump by lonesome river band...theres bunches!
3 ups, 5y
Also any cover by Jamie dupuis, especially his harp guitar stuff, he's covered a lot of classic rock and metal songs and just makes them sound serene, amazing sound and very talented.
