Also try Post Modern Jukebox. They do a lot of covers. Some are blaah, but some are out of this world good. Morgan James singing Aerosmith's Dream On is a good one to start with.

TimidD already said this, just listened to it and was not totally enamored, the point is it has to eclipse the original, not just have some guy singing it slowly or overtly emotionally. But if you guys like it, that's ok with me..

Maybe I missed the point of your question then, if you're not talking about my personal opinion of a song that is better than the original then what are you asking? Define "eclipse" and maybe I can think of another one.

and you guys are entitled to like it, but it needs to add something to the original for it to be better and this song just doesn't cut it for me, I mean are you really gonna outdo Paul Simon on soft emotive singing? Next attempt please Thparky.

I still dont have a metric to shoot for here, you cant measure preference! Not knocking Paul Simon, awesome artist, and I'm not even really a fan of disturbed. But their version evokes way more emotion for me. Tell me what your baseline to measure against is and as you said, I will make the "next attempt"

yes, its down to preference in terms of whether its better or not I guess.. I'm just a strict task-master for this thread. I mean we're trying to make a definitive list for the ages here right?? Buuut, this song is clearly not better than the original :D

LOL! I'm with ya! How about all along the watchtower, jimi Hendrix cover of Bob Dylan? That ones iconic.

Hey Joe (Hendrix), All along the Watchtower (Hendrix), Little Wing (Stevie Ray Vaughn) maybe, alot of The Byrds covers of Dylan. Alot of 50-60's blues. Hard to think of many covers that eclipsed the original.

I know that's an original album, I just really love the songs on it, and no one I know listens to counting crows because they have no taste in music

I have their this desert life album, it's my favorite, listen to it all day! The song clorblind makes me cry a little. but I have to say out of all their songs in St.Robinson and his cadillac dream one line says "and there are people who will say that they knew me so well. I may not go to heaven I hope you go to hell" It's the best line ever!

Do you have their later albums? was wondering if they are worth listening to..

No I haven't seen any... I would totally buy them if I found any, though I find on sites like spotify their music genre has sort of shifted, I personally like their old stuff better
