This would make it so much easier

Better yet, make it a separate option in the text box setting!

agreed- most of the time you don't need to rotate any textboxes.
you only shift and resize them.

When you need to do rotatons you'd be better of with a peripheral anchor in order to fine-tune your adjustment; that's what I'm suggesting.

A seperate setting option would come in handy at that.

I do often rotate the text, but man... sometimes I don't want to!

We recently added automatic "snapping" of rotation to the nearest 90 degree increment (a few weeks ago), did this help the problem?

Hmmm... tested it here and it seems easier to realign a text box to a straight position. Nice! Thanks!

Until they fix it, when trying to realign the textbox, click and hold the rotate icon, then drag your mouse straight down a ways before trying to go to the side. It increases the arc of the mouse's necessary movement and gives you finer control of the rotation.

yes that's a makeshift that does the trick
but if you really want to rotate a caption it would be nice to see how the text aligns and not have it dragged down out of view

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but if it's dragging the text out of view, you're doing it wrong. The /only/ way the text should move is rotational..

what I used to do was overstretching the height of the whole textbox to finetune the rotation.

But how could you animate it if you drag the mouse off the picture, since you don't have to keep the mouse inside the edges?

whereas the icon may dissapear if you drag it all the way down at least the broken line might show within the confines.

Will try that. In the past I have either left it screwy or just reset and started all over.
